Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! God has
supplied a van for the ministry. We are very thankful for His
provision. It meets our immediate need for a vehicle, keeping
the miles from piling up on our personal van. It runs great and
allows Sue to keep ours at home to run the kids around when I am
off ministering. What a blessing!

Jesus’ statement in this verse demonstrates the heart of the Father and the mission of Jesus leaving heaven for the earth. According to the Strong’s Concordance, the word "abundantly" means "superabundance, excessive, overflowing, surplus, over and above, more than enough, extraordinary, above the ordinary, more than sufficient." Jesus came to provide life for those who are headed to a sure death because of sin. He also came to provide a God-kind of life that will stop the enemy’s attempts to steal, kill and destroy. Let’s read John 10:10 out of the Amplified version. It states, "The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)." God’s desire is for His children to have eternal life and enjoy the life we have now. He also wants us to have a full life and to live in the overflow. Psalm 35:27 says that "God takes pleasure in the prosperity of his servants." He desires us to live in peace so that we can enjoy life. That life Jesus provides involves all areas of life. Jesus gave us access to a covenant with God that provides solutions for every challenge we face. God has been impressing on me to encourage everyone to trust Him like never before in the area of finances. I don’t have to give examples of the pressure we all face daily, hear about on every newscast, and hear in nearly every conversation. But we are not without hope. God has given us promises that provide for us and they are not affected by the economy. In Philippians 4:19, Paul says "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Notice the promise that God spoke though Paul. He said God would supply. Let your faith take hold of that promise: "My God will supply." Now the Apostle Paul was speaking to his supporters. He was speaking to those who understood the ministry of giving. He was stating a promise that tells us how to see God’s supply, and that it was not reliant on the world's economy. He states, "God will supply according to His riches in glory." I was ministering at a Thursday night service in Garber recently and during the message God spoke to me as I was teaching. That statement was simple yet powerful and it resounds in me still. It was this: "Doing things your way brings your results, but doing things God’s way brings God’s results." The last thing we want is our results instead of God’s. So don’t let the pressure of how things look keep you from doing what God says do, in order to get His results. I challenge you to study for yourself, how God met both Paul’s needs and those who supported him. Philippians 4:10-19 demonstrates that if they gave, they received. Paul states in verse 17 that he was not seeking the gift, but the fruit that would abound to their account because of their giving. I feel the same way. This letter is not a plea for money, but a desire to encourage you to hold fast to the truths from God’s word that will push back the darkness and pressure felt in the areas of finances. Satan’s tactics are not new and are still powerless against the believer who operates in faith. His most effective attack is to get our eyes off God as our source and to begin to look at the hopelessness of our circumstances and then open the door to fear. But as long as we are obedient to God and His word so that the covenant promises and provisions are working for us, we are never without hope. (Continued above in the next column)

(Continued from previous column) There is example after example of God’s people facing great impossibilities, and yet God delivered them out of them all. No matter what they faced, if they acted in faith and did what God instructed them to do, they never were defeated. They were always successful as long as they trusted God’s way and were obedient to do it His way. If you study the account of Elijah and the widow in 1 Kings 17:8-16, you can see miraculous provision. They were in a bleak situation. They were without hope, and the word of the Lord came to the widow in that hopeless situation. You may or may not be in a hopeless situation. You may only be feeling the pressure, but hear God’s word from 1 Kings 17:13: "Do not fear." Then he gives her instruction on how to overcome a hopeless situation. The choice was hers. God made a way where things seemed hopeless, but she had to act from faith and not cave in to the fear sent by the enemy. Let’s stand together in agreement for God’s abundant supply to be seen in our lives so that together we can continue to reach the un-reached, the lost, and hurting. |
